Instructure announces immersive player available free of charge for Canvas users

SALT LAKE CITY, February 8, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Today at the 15th Global Education Partners Summit (GEPS), Instruct announced that Immersive reader, a Microsoft learning tool, is now generally available in the Canvas learning management system. The feature is free to all Canvas customers on any Canvas Pages content, making reading more accessible to all learners.

Immersive reader uses techniques proven to improve reading for people regardless of age or ability. Key features include reading text aloud, breaking it down into syllables, and increasing the spacing between lines and letters. It offers text decoding solutions for students with learning differences, such as dyslexia. The learning tool encourages independent reading and provides instructional aid that helps teachers meet students’ unique learning needs.

Over the past year, Instructure has extended its long-standing collaboration with Microsoft, with new integrated solutions, including offer Microsoft Teams meetings as one of the default conferencing tools in Canvas. Companies are working to enrich the distance and hybrid learning experience to meet the current challenges of the pandemic and build an infrastructure for a post-pandemic education landscape.
